Mindful Monsters
Using a monster theme to encourage creative expression, this program will help your child better understand himself and his body, while building confidence and awareness. Each week they will practice deep breathing, visualization, a variety of mindful movement exercises and mindful activities which will all help build their ability to self-regulate in times of stress/worry and help them better focus and settle.
At the start of the program, each child will be given a ‘mindful monster’ and as they complete each mindful activity, they will be able to choose a monster part, cut it out, colour it in, and then stick it onto their monster until it’s complete!
Week 1 - (Monster's eyes, nose, ears & gut)
Mindful Awareness - using our senses and understanding our feelings
Week 2 - (Monster's mouth)
Mindful Eating - exploring nourishment and practicing patience and gratitude
Week 3 - (Monster's feet)
Mindful Walking - combining awareness with movement and exploring expression of feelings
Week 4- (Monster's heart)
Mindful Heart - awareness of other's emotions, understanding self-compassion and developing compassion for others
Week 5 - (Monster's hands)
Mindful Movement - combining awareness with more forms of movement to help ground, balance and open up your body/mind
Week 6 - (Monster's horns)
Mindful Action/Expression - fostering thoughtful interactions with yourself and others
